Hello, friends! My name is Atkins and I’m an Atlanta-based actor. As you can see, I’m a big guy. I have a big family. I have a big life. I have spent the last 7 years moving my life forward in every positive way except for one big area.
Self love.
Over the last year, I’ve been exploring body positivity and what it means to me. It’s had a huge impact on the way I see myself. Prior to this, I had a very negative outlook on myself. I’ve been overweight for as long as I can remember. I rarely ever felt good about the way I looked. Shopping for clothes was always difficult for me. I could never find anything that fits or didn’t make me look and feel like somebody’s sad dad.
There isn’t much out there for plus size men to be inspired by, and even less encouragement in the media, so this blog is the beginning of my conversation with the body positive movement and an opportunity for me to express myself through style and also share my journey as an actor.
